Community

Abbey Glen boasts a rich history of supporting our local communities. Our founder, Albert Youle, constructed housing for our staff and their families, and our horses were mobilized to aid the war effort. Albert's contribution to assisting Belgians during the war was so significant that a street in Ypres, Belgium, was named after him. These are just a few examples of the myriad ways our company has contributed to the betterment of local communities and individuals over the years. Below, you'll find a glimpse of some recent activities in which Abbey Glen has participated.

Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice
Abbey Glen is proud to support our former colleague, Russell Windle, in his efforts to raise funds for the fantastic Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice, which does incredible work. Russ left Abbey Glen in 2021 but has remained close to us all, and we wish him and his colleagues all the best in their efforts.

Paces Golf Day
As a company, we like to help other local charities and community groups when we can. In the summer of 2023, we were very proud to have been one of the sponsors of Paces Golf D
ay at Hillsborough Golf Club. Everyone had a great day out supporting a superb charity.

Easter at Doncaster Children's Ward and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital

We are delighted to have supported Edwards and Pearce, who are working in partnership with the Children's Ward at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospital this Easter. The Children's Ward and supporting departments work with many families throughout the year, and Edwards and Pearce want to ensure that every child and sibling has the Easter egg they deserve by donating Easter eggs to them. Abbey Glen was honored to be asked to support such a fantastic initiative.

Sheffield Allstars U14s JFC Sponsors

Abbey Glen proudly sponsors Sheffield Allstars U14s Junior Football Club. Established in 2019, Sheffield Allstars embodies inclusivity, aligning with Abbey Glen's values. Influenced by our Sales Manager David Knights, who acknowledges Allstars' positive impact despite his son playing for a rival team, this partnership celebrates community engagement through fundraising and events. Sheffield Allstars JFC Chairman Karl Taylor expresses gratitude for Abbey Glen's support, with Abbey Glen equally proud to be associated with a team fostering such positivity, wishing them continued success.

Probation Service / Complex Lives

Over the last few years, Abbey Glen has generously donated numerous towels and bedding to the Probation Service, collaborating with the Complex Lives team. These donated items have allowed individuals to transition into independent living by furnishing them with essential items they may not have been able to afford otherwise. Over the course of several years, dozens of people in the South Yorkshire area have benefitted from the link-up.

Dog Shelters / Animal Shelters

When our stock exceeds its shelf life, we dispose of it in environmentally and ethically responsible ways. Some are repurposed, finding utility in other industries like manufacturing companies, while a significant portion is donated to local dog and animal shelters. This surplus stock serves as bedding for the animals, ensuring they remain warm and comfortable during the evenings. Given the vital role dog and animal shelters play in our communities, we are pleased to contribute in our own small way to support their ongoing exceptional work.
